The Mary Needham Bargan Bazaar(JSPCA Charity shop) plays an integral part in the constant fund-raising drive that enables us to subsidise veterinary treatment at our animal hospital; provide winter warmth in our kennels; provide petrol for inspectorate vehicles and maintain our humane education and outreach drives.
This shop is located on the JSPCA premises at 5 Benray Road, Reuven. Operating hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and the last Saturday of every month from 08h00 to 14h00. The shop is closed Tuesdays, Thursdays, Sundays and all Public Holidays.
Lynne and her team are the friendly folk who drive this mini emporium where you will find anything ranging from books and videos, through to sports equipment and crockery. The community supports this initiative through both donations and purchases, for which we are extremely grateful.
TRIBUTE TO A VERY SPECIAL LADY!
Mrs Mary Needham, who died on the 30 August 1987, had been a Director on the Board of the Johannesburg SPCA since 1966 and up until her death.
"She was a very gracious and compassionate lady whose love and care for underprivileged people and animals knew no bounds. Nothing was to much trouble for Mary if it meant that suffering and deprivation could be alleviated. Mary organized the SPCA's shop, Bargain Bazaar, and worked tirelessly at raising funds for the animals. She was a familiar figure in the Bazaar and much-loved by those who knew her. In a very quiet way Mary, would arrange for the purchase of special equipment for the hospital or for any other work unti which needed a particular item for the animals"
As a tribute to her devoted work for the Society, the SPCA's Shop, situated on the premises at Booysens, will be called: The Mary Needham Bargain Bazaar.
