Many a time, people misunderstand the signal a dog gives on how he is feeling at that particular time, and this may result in an unfortunate event of being bitten.
 
The following serves as a guideline on a dogs body language while he may be feeling, scared or happy:
 
· Afraid:
o Cowers
o Hide away
o Ears fall flat
o Growl
o Show its teeth
· Aggressive
o Stands his ground and the body is tense
o Pilo erection – hair on its back and neck will raise.
 
· Nervous/ Unsure / Scared
o Wants you to keep away from it
o Move / run away from you
o Roll on its back (submitting)
o It can bite if approached.
o Head Lowered
o Lick Lips
o Tail tucked away
 
· Happy
o Relaxed Body
o Ears in normal position / relaxed
o Tail / body wagging
o The dog may play bow to show he wants to play with you
